Who is this qualification for?
The VTCT Skills Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments
is an advanced qualification specifically designed for beauty therapists who wish to add
laser and IPL treatments to their range of services and move into employment as a Level 4
laser therapist.
Entry onto this qualification requires prior achievement of a Level 3 qualification in a
relevant field. Centres will ensure learners have the knowledge, understanding, and skills
needed to enrol and successfully complete the course.
Why is this qualification most suitable?
This is the only Level 4 Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) qualification offered by
VTCT Skills. It focuses on reducing hair growth and skin photo-rejuvenation using IPL and
laser treatments. Learners will develop the technical skills required to perform these
treatments and gather evidence in a realistic or real working environment without needing
fee-paying clients.
What does this qualification cover?
Designed for learners aged 18+, this qualification builds on existing therapy knowledge and
further develops technical skills needed for employment. Skills will be assessed in real or
realistic work environments.
It includes conducting thorough client consultations, creating tailored treatment plans,
performing laser and light treatments for hair removal and skin rejuvenation, and managing
salon health, safety and security. All units are mandatory and listed in the
learner’s Record of Assessment (ROA) and the Qualification Structure.
